Job Description

As a Transport First Line Manager you will be responsible for the direct management of the transport shift, providing coaching, mentoring and development opportunities whilst ensuring health, safety and legal compliance is adhered to at all times.

Working hours: 4 on 4 off nights, 18.00-06.00

Key Duties of a Transport First Line Manager:

To provide leadership within the transport team.
Operate and manage day to day performance of KPI’s, Drivers and office staff.
Manage Health & Safety for Transport Operations.
Working with key suppliers in regarding to Sub contracting and Agency staff.
Assisting with the management in regards to the legal compliance of the site and to ensure it operates within the Operator Licence Legislation, WTD and Health & Safety regulations.
Manage the day to day running of the transport operation, ensuring that resource is planned to achieve the most efficient plan, whilst adhering to both legal and site constraints.
To ensure a high level of communication between departments, colleagues, clients and stakeholders is maintained on a daily basis.
To engage the workforce by having regular communication with employees, setting targets and managing performance both as a team and individual basis.

Qualifications

Significant transport experience in FMCG environment.
Significant knowledge & experience of tachograph/ driving rules and regulations.
National and International CPC qualification – desirable.
Previous supervisory experience within a similar environment.
Planning and organising skills with a high level of numeracy.
Good IT skills including Microsoft office packages.
Have knowledge of Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
Leadership and motivational qualities and proven experience of building a team.
An effective communicator at all levels, good verbal and written skills.
A confident manager who is skilled at setting clear objectives and motivating their team.
Able to work within an evolving organisation.
Problem solving in a pressurised environment.
