Head of Brand

RESPONSIBLE FOR All things brand, including verbal and visual identity and assets. REPORTS TO: Founder LOCATION: Bristol office, some hybrid flexibility EMPLOYMENT: 2-3 days a week. Employed or freelance considered To apply for this role, please send your CV and portfolio (if you have one) with a covering letter outlining your relevant experience. ROLE OVERVIEW This is a new, hybrid role combining brand, content and design. We’re looking for someone who is genuinely passionate about building an exceptional brand. At Zeff, we want branding to be at the heart and soul of our company and the force that shapes everything we do. The Zeff brand is still young (born in February), so there are countless decisions ahead to set its trajectory. We want someone who can create a brand that stands out in the industry – best in class, deeply consistent, and capable of shifting how people think about sustainability and waste. We need someone who can instinctively understand the vision, contribute ideas, and carry out decisions autonomously. Someone fastidious about detail, who actively hunts for opportunities to improve and align our brand experience across every touchpoint. Our brand – and the guidelines that shape it – have been created with Pentagram, one of the most respected design agencies in the world. Your role is to bring that brand to life every day, visually and verbally. You’ll build the systems, assets and expressions that define Zeff, and you’ll help guide and protect the brand as it evolves. Above all, you’ll ensure clarity, consistency and craft in everything that carries our name. This role demands a broad, flexible skill set, and your most important skill will be to understand and bring to life the essence of a design‑led brand. One minute you might be writing a news article; the next, deciding what our office should look like or designing an exhibition stand. You could be shaping a product naming strategy or creating new areas of the website. You might be crafting our Christmas card or informing our customers that our phone number has changed. If it touches the brand, it touches this role. ABOUT ZEFF Zeff is a small but ambitious manufacturer of recycling products, driven by sustainability, ingenuity, perfection and simplicity. In 2010, we had a simple idea: to create the world’s first recycling bin made from 100% post‑consumer plastic. Today, our U‑bins are used by hundreds of organisations across the UK and Europe, and we keep our footprint low by producing all our products within the UK. Our customers range from universities and hospitals to retailers and private estates, including Mulberry, RSPB, Royal Borough of Greenwich, Heritage Fund, Harrogate Spring Water, WWF and the NHS. Based in Bristol, with a widening international base and new products in development, we have bold ambitions to help put an end to the world’s throw‑away culture. If you are motivated to work in a business that exists to do good, you will play an important part in Zeff’s next phase of growth. RESPONSIBILITIES You will be the voice for Zeff. The brand guardian, creator and actuator all rolled into one. Brand Stewardship & Consistency Own the brand’s visual and verbal expression, ensuring all output is consistent, accurate and on‑brand. Proactively identify and correct inconsistencies across all touchpoints. Shape and evolve the brand as it grows, making confident decisions independently. Website Work with our technical web agency to ensure the website communicates clearly and on‑brand. Provide creative direction, visual guidance and assets when required. Copywriting & Content Creation Maintain and develop the Zeff tone of voice. Write brand materials, including monthly news updates for the website, social media posts, press releases, brochures and general brand content. Image and Digital Asset Creation / Management Manage existing imagery and work to build the library of “on‑brand” imagery over time. Create on‑brand graphics for web, email, newsletters, social channels and internal communications. Produce strategic pieces such as brochures, product sheets, presentations and other sales collateral. Agency support may be required; you would manage this relationship. Develop templates and design systems that enable consistent use across the team. Events & Exhibitions Design stands and supporting collateral for 2‑3 exhibitions in 2026. Ensure event presence aligns with brand guidelines and key messaging. Social Media Manage and schedule posts on LinkedIn and Instagram a few times a month. Support content creation around new product launches and company updates. Create short‑form video or motion graphics where useful (bonus experience – not essential to role). Work closely with the Founder, team and external agency and customer partners to understand needs, interpret briefs and deliver high‑quality work on time. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Minimum 3 years in a brand guardian role. Proven ability to translate brand guidelines into high‑quality brand assets. Strong craft skills – layout, wording, spacing, colour and consistency really matter to you. Strong copywriting ability with a clear instinct for tone of voice. Highly organised and able to manage multiple projects at once. Detail‑driven, reliable and committed to producing best‑in‑class work. A genuine passion for sustainability and thoughtful design. A natural collaborator with a strong sense of ownership and integrity. SALARY AND BENEFITS From £40,000 per year pro‑rata. Salary dependent on expertise. Part‑time (3 days per week), employed or freelance. Based in Bristol office, with some flexibility for hybrid working. 25 days holiday per year (pro‑rata), plus bank holidays. Flexible working hours to support work‑life balance. Purpose‑led work within a sustainability driven organisation. Opportunity to shape and grow a young brand from the ground up. A supportive and collaborative team environment. Free parking at our Bristol office. Modern, light workspace in the sustainability award‑winning Filwood Green Business Park. #J-18808-Ljbffr
