We partner with governments to work together towards a common goal, defending our freedom.What we can offer youCompany bonus of up to £2,500 (based on company performance and will vary year to year)Pension of maximum total (employer and employee) contribution of up to 14%Annual salary reviewPaid overtimeUp to 15 days flexi leave25 days annual leave (plus holiday purchase)Fantastic site facilities, including subsidised meals, free car parking and gym on site at StevenageExcellent career progression and development opportunitiesFlexible working arrangementsHybrid working pattern: Where possible, we will seek to accommodate a blended approach to on-site and remote working such as two days a week on-site.The opportunityMBDA has a fantastic opportunity for a Cable / Harness Design Engineer to primarily work as the focal point for drawing approvals and first of builds within our growing Interconnects team who design bespoke electrical interconnects/cables suitable for the transmission of power, signal and data within and between subsystems in our products.This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced within manufacturing or engineering who is seeking a challenge, wanting to build on their current experience by being the drawing approvals and first of builds focal point for all interconnect designs in the UK.To do this you will need to interpret Cable Harness assembly drawings and technical documentation to understand how these translate into physical hardware. You will need an eye for detail on the relationship between the technical documentation and the physical assembly to ensure practical, robust, instructions are flowed into manufacturing and suppliers.What we\'re looking for from youAs the primary drawing approvals engineer and acting as a technical interface to manufacturing we are looking for the following;The ability to define cable assembly construction based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC and environmental requirements.An appreciation of cable assembly production/process engineeringExperience of working collaboratively with other engineering disciplines such as mechanical and electronic design engineers to deliver robust cable assembly design solutions.Strong communication skills to facilitate regular electrical support with all relevant stakeholdersDetermined individual that is self-motivated with a methodical, logical approach and an appetite to learn and progress while working with peersAbility/flexibility to travel to other locations including international when requiredDue to the nature of our work, experience of military Defence Standards and a working knowledge of D38999 connectors in support of cable harness manufacture is highly desirable.Our BusinessOur company: Peace is not a given, Freedom is not a given, Sovereignty is not a givenMBDA is a leading defence organisation.
