Technical Author – Inorganic chemicals – UK BAT – 32437 Environment Agency About the role Do you want to make a lasting positive change to the environment? As a Technical author in the UK BAT team you can. Key responsibilities You’ll be responsible for drafting BAT Conclusions, liaising with Technical Working Groups and presenting a final document suitable for publication as a new, UK wide, environmental standard for industry. Specialist knowledge and understanding of the LVIC industry A good understanding of process engineering, environmental issues A good understanding of environmental legislation and policy in the UK The capability of critically analysing technical arguments and data The ability to work with, and write technical documents Good project management skills and a drive to complete Other responsibilities: Use smart tools to stay connected and reduce travel; some travel and overnight stays may be required Develop an inclusive incident management objective as part of your development plan Experience and skills required You will have at least 5 years working experience, and a solid understanding of environmental regulation LVIC industry. The large Volume inorganic chemicals industry UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, in particular the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations Collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data Understanding of the implications of BAT Conclusions in permits, on industry and the environment Verbal and written communication Building and maintaining relationships Planning, prioritising and organising tasks and resources to ensure timely and effective results Responding flexibly to challenges and building consensus Ability to work effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures and actively encourage others to consider diversity issues Competency Questions (Interview) Communicates Effectively Provide STAR examples where effective communication techniques were pivotal for success.
