Department: A-Level Provision. Application Deadline: 18 September 2025.RoleSefton Sixth Form College is seeking a Teacher of Biology to join the Faculty of Maths, Science & Health. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to ensure successful learner outcomes and maximise student potential. Responsibilities include teaching A-level Biology and contributing to curriculum development and enhancement.Key Tasks & ResponsibilitiesTeach A-level BiologyImplement effective feedback and assessment systemsDeliver lessons aligned with TLA PrinciplesContribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementationMaintain a professional learning environmentContribute to the delivery of the enhancement programMain TasksDeliver motivating and inspiring teaching and learningDevelop assessments and provide constructive feedbackFacilitate learning using appropriate materials and methodsUtilise technology to enable independent learningEmbed employability skills through teaching and learningConsistently challenge lateness and attendance concernsEstablish and maintain relationships with studentsTake part in reviews of course performance and curriculum developmentParticipate in professional development and training activitiesQualifications & CriteriaPossess a degree in Biology or a related subjectPossess a PGCE/Certificate of Education or equivalent teaching qualificationTrack record of successful teaching experience within a Sixth Form setting, preferably teaching A level BiologyDetailed knowledge of relevant subject matter and examination and assessment requirementsUnderstanding of value added and the use of progress performance measuresExperience of developing and maintaining external partnerships to enrich teaching and learningAbility to provide clear, direct and constructive written and verbal feedbackRewards and BenefitsAccess to Teachers’ Pension SchemeMedicash and many other staff benefitsFlexible working options where possibleContinual professional development opportunitiesOn-campus facilities and staff supportAbout Sefton Sixth Form CollegeSefton Sixth Form College is a friendly, diverse and vibrant place to work.
