Job Summary Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner, AfC Band 4 (6 positions available) We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our MINT teams (Hammersmith, Ealing and Hounslow) as a Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Practitioner (MHWP). This is an exciting new role created by NHS England to support the transformation of adult community mental health services, ensuring that adults with severe mental health problems have access to psychologically informed interventions. Main duties of the job During the one‑year graduate certificate or postgraduate certificate training, you will develop knowledge and practice skills to employ wellbeing‑focused psychologically informed interventions for serious mental health problems for adults individually and in groups, as well as support their families and carers. You will: Attend all elements of the training programme and undertake assessments to demonstrate competence and attainment of the required skills, knowledge and behaviours Work in an adult community mental health service when not completing the programme of study Support collaborative care planning, alongside other members of the multi‑disciplinary team Develop and practice psychologically‑informed interventions under supervision, working directly with adults in the community Applicants Must: Have a 2.1 Bachelor's degree in a relevant field Have experience of work interacting with the public, working as part of a team, analysing complex information and communicating effectively with a wide range of people including those with complex mental health needs Be able to demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with people in significant distress, their families and carers Have a passion for creating and enabling equality of access to services for all; this role will include working with people from varied cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary About Us You will be based in our community mental health service, within one of our Mental Health Integrated Network Teams (MINT). MINT is a multidisciplinary team providing holistic support and treatment to adults presenting with a range of mental health difficulties. You will be working alongside a team of passionate and committed psychological professionals and colleagues from other disciplines including nursing, social work, OT and psychiatry. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to UCL University to complete their academic training for a one‑year period but the position will be based in one of the MINT Teams in either Hammersmith, Ealing or Hounslow. Interview dates: 17th and 18th of December Person Specification Essential Qualifications Bachelor's degree at 2:1 in a relevant subject Experience Significant experience of undertaking work interacting with the public in a caring, pastoral, helping, or healthcare role. Experience working as part of a team where you are required to follow strict organisational policies and procedures. Experience of analysing and communicating complex information verbally and in writing. Experience of working in a challenging environment where there are competing demands and unpredictable circumstances. Experience of working under close supervision and engaging positively in a supervisory relationship, using constructive feedback and guidance in order to develop professionally. Knowledge Has a good understanding of mental health conditions and mental health services. Has a good understanding of evidence‑based healthcare and scientist practitioner model. Demonstrates an understanding of the practices of Human Rights in the delivery of this role.
