Job SummaryThis post as a Specialty Doctor in Ophthalmology is suitable for a person who wishes to undertake a range of duties in the Victoria Eye Unit, Powys Hospitals and associated peripheral clinics. The Specialty Doctor post is for a full time, fixed term position for 12 months (with the possibility of extension), 10.0 PA career doctor. The timetable will vary, but focus largely on Glaucoma and Cornea patient pathways, as well as supporting Eye Casualty. The timetable will include a variety of outpatient clinic sessions, according to clinical experience. The department currently has 8 consultants and training in new skills is part of the post and we would welcome a flexible personality who is keen to develop.Main dutiesThe degree of responsibility given to the appointed doctor will be commensurate with his/her experience and managed by the clinical lead & consultant ophthalmologists in the Hospital Eye Service. The timetable will necessarily be flexible to fit with the needs of the service, out of hours commitment is not expected. Experience in delivering intra-vitreal injections such as Lucentis would be an advantage.
