Sister/ Charge Nurse

Job Summary An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 6, Freeman Hospital, a Surgery inpatient Ward, to recruit a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse. This role will provide support and leadership to a nursing team, ensuring high-quality patient care and a safe, positive experience for patients and staff. Main duties of the job Adopt a holistic, pro‑active and dynamic approach to deliver a high standard of care and service to patients. Be a visible clinical lead on shift and a point of contact for staff, patients and their families. Lead and deliver safe care, screening of admission and discharge processes. Manage workforce planning, rotas, leave and absence, and performance monitoring through clinical supervision, 1:1s and appraisal processes. Engage in audit processes and help maintain and improve quality standards. Actively develop new practices and review incidents to implement learning. Serve as deputy in the absence of the Ward Manager. Lead the team in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. Be a role model and resource for junior staff. Communicate with patients, carers, relatives, staff and other professionals sensitively and appropriately. Engage in difficult conversations and problem‑solve when needed. Liaise with MDT and wider community agents. Maintain the skills and knowledge of team members through training and development.
