About The Role We’ve an amazing new opportunity to become our Risk Lead, reporting into the Integrated Controls Manager within our Asset Portfolio Management Office (PMO). This role is essential to realizing our National Leader ambitions and requires a motivated governance and change professional with direct experience of working in a fast‑paced PMO environment. You’ll act as the risk lead within the Northumbrian Water PMO and will lead a team of risk analyst professionals in the delivery of best‑practice project and programme risk and opportunity management. Responsibilities include implementing and overseeing the risk team ethos, driving the achievement of objectives, reviewing and assuring risk and opportunity registers prepared by the project and risk analyst team, preparing risk and opportunity registers, and providing analysis of project/programme and portfolio risk across the project lifecycle. Additional duties involve delivering NEC3 framework and contract risk support in line with stakeholder requirements, collaborating with project teams, scheduling, and cost and estimation leads, reviewing contractors’ risk and opportunity registers for completeness and reasonable basis to support project scope and deliverables. You will act as the PMO & Capital Delivery Risk authority, attend and contribute to meetings and management forums on behalf of the PMO, and own the risk tools, processes and registers, along with associated guidelines for meeting forums, purpose, attendees, and materials, ensuring consistency across the delivery programme. About You We’re looking for a professional with proven experience of developing and delivering high-risk and opportunity registers in a project controls or programme management environment, and of successfully developing and deploying project baseline structure build‑up. Demonstrable knowledge of contract and procurement management standards, including NEC3 contract forms, is essential. You should have a proven track record of accurate project risk and opportunity registers, analysis, forecasting, and reporting to completion in line with targets. Experience motivating high‑performing colleagues or teams to successful outcomes, recognising the importance of training, development, safety, and wellbeing, and collaborating effectively with fellow PMO integrated function leads and supporting the Head of PMO is required. Experience with dedicated risk tools, management systems and reporting tools such as MS PowerBI, and performance dashboard development and information management to support senior‑level decision making is also required. About Asset Management & PMO The Assets Directorate understands the health of our assets, invests wisely, and maintains them to continue to provide safe, reliable, and resilient services to our customers today and in the future. We have launched an ambitious transformation programme to drive a real step change in how we deliver our capital projects. This requires the development of a high‑performing PMO to provide a central controls function delivering impactful performance reporting, estimating, scheduling, and risk management, and governance. The overarching objective is to transition from a hybrid PMO consisting of NWG staff and contractor support to an entirely in‑house model.
