Job Summary We are looking for an experienced physiotherapist to join our Rheumatology and MSK teams. The role is split 50:50 between rheumatology and MSK and is a fixed‑term post until 31 October. The post involves a 4‑day pattern in outpatients and weekend working on the trauma and orthopaedic wards (alternating Saturday and Sunday every four weeks). Applicants previously unsuccessful for the post may not apply. Responsibilities Manage patients with long‑term conditions in rheumatology, providing therapeutic care and education on conditions such as spondyloarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, connective tissue disorders and hypermobility syndrome. Assess newly diagnosed rheumatology patients, run education and exercise groups, participate in axial spondyloarthritis yearly review clinics and manage patients within hydrotherapy. Assess and treat musculoskeletal conditions referred from GP, A&E, interface services and post‑operative pathways. Mentor Band 5 staff and support staff, supervise students and contribute to the delivery of IST. Support the hydrotherapy, hand therapy, pelvic health, cancer therapy, neurological and vestibular teams as part of the wider physiotherapy department. Qualifications & Experience Degree or Diploma in physiotherapy. HCPC registration and evidence of regular CPD. Postgraduate MSK outpatient experience and experience of mentoring. Experience working as part of a physiotherapy team in the NHS and managing own workload. Ability to perform clinical examinations and develop individualised treatment programmes for complex patients. Experience with rheumatological or long‑term conditions (desirable). Experience supervising staff, students and participation in service development/audit (desirable). Skill Set Confident use of IT systems. Knowledge of musculoskeletal conditions. Knowledge of rheumatology and chronic pain conditions (desirable).
