Admin & Medical Secretary Support To Advanced Primary Care Service **PLEASE NOTE** This vacancy is only open to employees of our ICB system partners: Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust, The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital and NHS Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care Board. The Advanced Primary Care Service (APCS) provides community based ENT and Gynae services to people across Shropshire. We are looking for an individual who is able to work under their own initiative provide remote high quality clerical and administrative support to the service which provides clinical appointments across sites in Shropshire. You will also provide medical secretary / Audio typing support for the GPs with Special Interest in the service to ensure patient information is relayed accurately and in a timely manner. Please note that this job does not meet the salary requirements for work visa sponsorship and as such we will be unable to progress your application if you do not have the right to work in the UK. Main duties of the job You will work within a team to provide high quality administrative support to our multidisciplinary team of practitioners, be a point of contact for our service users liaise with partner organisations to support the delivery of an effective and efficient service. The successful candidate must have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with a pleasant telephone manner, organisational skills and be able to demonstrate the ability to remain calm under pressure. A flexible approach to work and an understanding of working in a busy environment with competing priorities and changing demands under minimal supervision is also essential. You will be friendly and approachable and have a positive attitude to work. You will be able to use your own initiative when necessary, working with people and engaging with colleagues at all levels and have an understanding for the need for confidentiality at all times. You will have medical secretary or audio typist skills and competency, be computer literate with experience of Word and Excel, have excellent keyboard skills and ideally have some knowledge of working in an ENT or Gynae based service with a knowledge of medical terminology. This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for disclosure to be made to the Criminal Records Bureau to check for any previous criminal convictions. Person Specification Training And Qualifications RSA Stage II Word Processing/Typing qualification or ability to demonstrate equivalent standard and experience. Good knowledge of medical terminology. Able to demonstrate a good level of maths commensurate with maintaining referral and activity data. Able to demonstrate a good level of English language and grammar commensurate with composing own letters and ability to correct other correspondence as necessary. Experience Experience of interfacing with clinical staff and understanding of their roles, specialities and responsibilities. Experience of booking and managing appointments via an electronic booking system. Significant experience in an administrative role. Knowledge And Skills Excellent secretarial, interpersonal and communication skills. Experience of all major Microsoft Office programs. Ability to problem-solve and resolve day-to-day IT programme problems. Able to exercise initiative in facilitating effective management of day to day workload to show a measure of unsupervised judgement. Good organisational skills; self-starter and able to use initiative appropriately with only little supervision. Ability to work on own and as part of a team.
