Job Summary The successful candidate will join the existing team of 13 consultants (11.3 WTE) and 5 Advanced Nurse Practitioners in providing in‑and out‑patient Respiratory care. This 10 PA post offers the opportunity to train/participate in specialty clinical activity across MFT and to take an active research interest. Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration; MFT cannot provide GMC sponsorship for permanent vacancies. Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership for the Medicine Division and supervise junior medical staff and multi‑professional trainees as required. Contribute to education and work towards accreditation as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor. Contribute to departmental audit and clinical governance. Provide cross‑cover for annual/study leave and short‑term sickness for other consultants in the department as agreed within the teams. Perform any other duties considered necessary for the efficient working of the service, mutually agreed to be relevant to the post as the pattern of service evolves. Participate in administrative and management roles of the department together with other consultants. Follow an indicative job plan as shown in the Job Description. Qualifications and Experience Essential qualifications: GMC Registration (MRCP or equivalent entry in the GMC); Specialist Register for GIM and Endocrinology & Diabetes Mellitus via CCT (proposed CCT within 6 months of interview) or CESR. Essential clinical experience: Clinical skills in Internal Medicine equivalent to completion of Higher Speciality Training in General Internal Medicine and Diabetes; Clinical skills in Diabetes equivalent to completion of Higher Speciality Training. Desirable experience: Experience dealing with “acute take” at consultant level in the UK; Intensive care unit experience; Experience in service improvement; Presentational skills. Experience in clinical audit, patient safety initiatives, teaching (medical and non‑medical staff). Other attributes: Good organisational ability and flexibility to meet team demands; Experience working in cross‑boundary clinical teams with good communication and management skills.
