Breast Imaging Radiographer Join to apply for the position at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust. Job Overview Do you have a postgraduate qualification in Mammography or are you interested in studying for one? The Breast Imaging Department at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has a part‑time position available for a qualified, HCPC‑registered Radiographer. Applications are welcome from those who are due to qualify in Radiography and require training in breast imaging, in line with Annex 21 guidance. As a qualified Mammographer you will participate in breast screening, assessment and symptomatic clinics within the static units of The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, Shrewsbury, and The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford, as well as performing screening mammography on mobile units at various locations throughout rural Shropshire. A current UK full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes are essential. Working shifts will be flexible to meet the expanding screening population and symptomatic workload. The nature of this role is that it is open to female applicants only. This provision applies under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975. Main Duties Provide a high‑quality mammography service, working with accuracy and speed to NHS Breast Screening Programme standards and demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills. Carry out mammography examinations on Shropshire Breast Screening Service clients and symptomatic patients to NHS standards, and perform all associated quality assurance procedures to maintain national standards. Provide an excellent, professional breast imaging service to all users. Undertake X‑ray examinations as an operator in accordance with IR(ME)R 2000. Justify medical exposures using departmental examination protocols, own knowledge and experience to ensure a safe and effective mammographic service. Practice all radiation protection procedures. Undertake a demanding workload whilst maintaining a high standard of radiography and client/patient care. Return hard drives to the breast screening static unit at the end of each working day and upload images onto PACS. Maintain appropriate records (paper and IT) in compliance with IR(ME)R and departmental procedures. Ensure all equipment is used correctly and report any faults or concerns in the room fault book, following IR(ME)R 2000 equipment handover procedures. Perform and record outcomes for all necessary equipment QA tests in line with NHSBSP requirements.
