Nights Residential Child Care Worker | Children's Residential Service | Central Lancashire Salary: £28,142 – £32,061 Per Annum (Pro Rata if Part Time) | Full Time (37 Hours Per Week) & Part Time Positions available | Central Lancashire. International Sponsorship – this role is not open to international sponsorship. Location: Central Lancashire (covering homes based in Preston, Chorley, Bamber Bridge & Skelmersdale). Vehicle: You must have access to your own vehicle as the role may require you to work at different homes across our Central Lancashire Cluster. About Us Our Children's Residential Service is expanding, and we have exciting opportunities within Central Lancashire due to the opening of a new home in the area. We hold strong views that our children deserve the very best care and support, developing positive, meaningful, and lifelong relationships. With an emphasis on creative and fun activities, we ensure that children and young people are supported to develop in all areas of life. Role and Responsibilities Work as a night staff member in a children’s home, ensuring the home is secure during the night and providing a friendly face and support whenever children wake. Listen and engage children in 1:1 work around feelings, emotions, and behaviours, and link with other professionals—social workers, schools, police, and health workers—to meet their needs. Work flexible hours, often including night and weekend shifts, with enhanced pay rates for night shift work. What our children want from you I would like someone like me who has time to listen instead of being behind a locked door. I would like someone who listens to me but also takes action and whom I can have a laugh with – they also need to be able to make nice food. I would like someone who spends time with me. What can you expect from us We offer an ambitious, confident management team who are experienced, supportive, and keen to help you learn and grow. Over 50 free courses are available, and we can support you in obtaining funded qualifications up to degree level. A detailed induction programme prepares you for the role, and all permanent staff receive a monthly 1:1 reflective space with managers, a comprehensive Employee Support Offer, and opportunities to network with other professionals. Staff benefits include access to the 'Blues and Twos Credit' Union, membership of Blue Light Card, and local retailer discounts. What are we looking for Passion: Thinking creatively to ensure children achieve their aspirations, no matter how big or small. We are looking for passionate practitioners who truly care and want to make a difference. Challenge: Dedicated, committed individuals willing to go that extra mile for children, even on tough days, and who thrive as a team player. Forward thinking: Workers who can join our expanding service and contribute to shaping its future. Values: Candidates with values aligned to our service—supportive, innovative, respectful, and collaborative.
