THE C4 APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME If you are looking for an opportunity to gain work experience and a qualification, then an apprenticeship at Channel 4 might be for you. Job Description Job Title: Creative Equity Apprentice Reports to: Creative Equity Lead Department: Content Operations Location: Bristol Number of roles: 1 Start date: September 2026 Our Apprenticeships are full-time, with four days per week spent working in a C4 department and one day per week completing the formal learning parts of the apprenticeship. You’ll spend 60% of your working week in your office base and 40% working from home. The formal training provided will consist of workshops, tutorials, webinars, coaching and in some cases residential boot camps. Eligibility You must be 18 years old or over at the time the scheme starts to apply. There is no upper age limit. You’ll need to have a Grade C (4) or above in Maths & English GCSE. You can’t have already completed the qualification being offered or similar at the same or higher level. Our apprenticeships are aimed at school leavers and people who do not have a degree. Prioritise, decide and then act – always commercially. Department Description The Creative Equity team is at the core of Commissioning, working across all genres and platforms. Our mission is to enhance representation both on‑screen and behind the camera, promote greater inclusion, and ensure that our programming authentically portrays the diverse lives of everyone in Britain today, challenging stereotypes along the way. We are involved from the very beginning of the commissioning process, identifying talent and opportunities that align with our Commissioning Diversity Guidelines. Through the Creative Diversity Fund, we collaborate with Heads of Departments to allocate funding that accelerates the development of talent, ideas, and independent producers. Our team maintains an open‑door policy, providing support and guidance to Channel 4’s production partners to help them meet the Commissioning Diversity Guidelines and supporting off‑screen talent whenever possible. We act as creative partners, collaborators, and facilitators, collectively advocating for equality and ensuring that our work leads to substantial and meaningful change. Key Responsibilities Provide Inclusion and Diversity support to the Commissioning teams and Creative Equity team. Offer administrative support, including taking meeting minutes, arranging some travel plans, and managing the team project diary. Provide logistical support for events, such as booking rooms, creating invite lists, and assisting with outreach and networking events, including meet‑and‑greets. Track Nations and Regions based off‑screen talent from underrepresented backgrounds, maintaining documents that monitor their career progression. Assist the Creative Equity project managers with research, maintaining details of grassroots organisations, supporting outreach and engagement with local creative communities, and aiding talent pipelines. Offer administrative support for the Creative Diversity team newsletter, including researching resources and relevant industry information. Track weekly Commissioning projects, ensuring all relevant project forms are sent. Essential Experience & Skills Verbal and written communication skills – e.g. experience of dealing with customers or working as part of a team. Communication – e.g. writing emails, completing an application form or essay, or if you have a hobby that involves creative writing. Attention to detail – e.g. Cashing up on tills or proofreading coursework. Organisation skills and ability to prioritise tasks – e.g. Planning events whether personal or for professional purposes, as well as managing work life balance, for example working whilst doing coursework/exams. An understanding of and a passion for Channel 4’s remit. Confirm you have Maths & English GCSE Grade C (4) or above. Strong administrative experience in a demanding, fast‑paced environment, with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive material. Proven ability to prioritise tasks, use initiative, and manage busy schedules effectively. Capability to balance working environments, both in‑office and remotely. A good understanding of, and passion for, Channel 4’s remit and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in broadcasting, along with a demonstrable interest in television and media. This includes a contribution towards your deposit and first months’ rent, plus visits to your new city to look for accommodation.
