Job Summary As an HGV Technician at Calor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our fleet, ensuring safety and reliability across all operations. Location Plymouth – On‑Site Workshop. Shift Pattern (Rotation) Day Shift: Monday to Friday, 05:00‑14:00 Middle Shift: Monday to Friday, 07:00‑16:00 Back Shift: Monday to Friday, 11:00‑20:00 (includes Saturday morning 06:00‑10:00) Overtime – Saturday Mornings: 06:00‑12:00 On‑Call rota: 1 in 3 weeks (Additional payment for on call) Salary (OTE) Circa £57,108. Benefits £5,000 Sign‑On Bonus (paid after successful completion of 3‑month settling‑in period). Annual Bonus (£2,000) – recognising personal and team contribution to fleet safety and operation. Expected Overtime Earnings (£7,000) – paid at 1.5x hourly rate, may exceed this based on business need. Industry‑leading training (LPG to IRTEC to HGV licence support). Private medical insurance (including discounted family cover). 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays (increasing with service). Holiday days scheme – option to buy additional annual leave. You’ll work in a supportive team environment with camaraderie, training, and a company that invests in your future. Qualifications Essential: Qualifications in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair. Knowledge of vehicle systems, trailers, plant, and workshop equipment. Strong diagnostic skills with a safety‑first mindset. Team player with good communication and organisation skills. We will also consider candidates with a strong, proven background in the industry, whether time‑served, with relevant qualifications, or with equivalent practical experience. Desirable Qualifications (but not essential) HGV C licence and ADR (class 2 – gases). Opportunity to gain Category (class 1 & 2) C + E licence.
