Hours Full-time: 8 Programmed Activities. On Call None. However, post holders may rotate for Section 12 duty at Goodmayes Hospital on approximately three days per year. Location Barking Community Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking, Essex, IG11 9LX (West), and 508 Becontree Avenue, Dagenham, RM8 3JL (North). Job Overview This new, substantive, full‑time post is a specialty doctor in adult community psychiatry working two days per week in MHWT North and two days per week in MHWT West, using a shared arrangement. The post is currently vacant and covered by Agency/Bank staff. Responsibilities Provide senior medical support to the multidisciplinary team caring for adults with mental health needs. Deliver direct clinical input and supervision to junior staff and intern clinicians. Work directly with adult patients and their families, coordinating care within the community. Liaise with external mental health providers and acute hospitals as required. Join the Section 12 rota for assessment of patients detained under Section 136 during normal working hours when approved. Qualifications & Experience Medical qualification with a recognised psychiatry specialty; experience in adult community psychiatry is preferred. Registration with the GMC and a commitment to continuous professional development.
