Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Facilities Department: Facilities Location: Leeds Type of Contract: Permanent About Us: GBS is a higher education provider offering a range of sector‑relevant courses across ten campuses in London, Birmingham, Leeds and Manchester. Vision: Changing Lives through Education. Job Summary: The Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer will maintain, install and refurbish fabric and equipment across the GBS UK estates portfolio. The engineer will monitor the condition of buildings, carry out repairs and renovations, and support Estates and Facilities in planning refurbishment projects. The role may require travel to other GBS UK campuses and will demand flexible working to accommodate business operations. The position is a 40‑hour week covering campus operating hours from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am to 9:30 pm, with occasional out‑of‑hours work as needed. Key Responsibilities Preventative and reactive maintenance of facilities and equipment. Building and equipment maintenance across the estate. Ensure health, safety and compliance standards are met. Document and manage inventory related to maintenance work. Participate in refurbishment and fit‑out projects. Travel between GBS campuses and maintain flexibility to cover operating hours. Requirements 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification. City & Guilds Level 2 and/or Level 3 in Electrical Installations, or equivalent NVQ, or demonstrable experience to the same standard. Previous experience in building maintenance, including M&E systems. Manual skills and knowledge of refurbishment techniques. A flexible and proactive “can‑do” attitude. Familiarity with COSHH requirements for equipment and chemicals. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently as well as part of the wider facilities team.
