Independent Non-Executive Director – Guardian Jobs The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) is the governing and regulatory body for horseracing in Great Britain. The BHA’s member bodies include the Racecourse Association (RCA), the Racehorse Owners Association (ROA), the Thoroughbred Breeders Association (TBA) and the National Trainers Federation (NTF). Under the chairmanship of Lord Charles Allen the BHA is pursuing a renewed strategic goal to modernise British racing and become a "modern commercial and cultural powerhouse". To achieve this, the BHA is transforming its governance arrangements and will appoint multiple Independent Non-Executive Directors to oversee the organisation, support growth and transformation, and bring a deep passion for racing and relevant industry expertise. The board requires the following specific experience: Deep experience leading Audit Committees Understanding of the interplay between horseracing, sports betting and gambling Experience managing sports media rights Experience with digital transformation An advocate for racing and its importance to the British public All Non-Executive Directors will be expected to bring an understanding of corporate governance, high ethical standards, and a commitment to the continued success of racing. All Directors must be independent; the BHA Board, on the recommendation of the Nominations Committee, will determine whether relationships or circumstances could appear to affect a candidate’s judgment.
