Description We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Secondary SEND Classroom Assistant to join our vibrant educational community. In this vital role, you will support students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to create an inclusive, nurturing environment where every learner can thrive. Your enthusiasm and commitment will empower students to develop their skills in literacy, math, and social‑emotional areas, fostering independence and confidence. This position offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners with diverse needs. Responsibilities Assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique requirements, including those with autism and other disabilities. Support classroom activities by preparing materials, setting up learning stations, and facilitating engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards such as Montessori or preschool frameworks. Provide one‑on‑one or small group support to enhance literacy, numeracy, and social skills through targeted interventions and creative teaching strategies. Manage classroom behavior by applying effective behavior management techniques, promoting positive conduct, and maintaining a safe learning environment. Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff members to monitor student progress and adapt instructional approaches accordingly. Assist with daily routines such as toileting, feeding (if applicable), and personal care for students requiring additional support. Foster strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure consistent support and progress tracking for all learners. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as daycare, preschool, private schools, or special education environments. Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices. Familiarity with curriculum development, lesson planning, and teaching strategies for diverse learners. Experience working with children with autism or disabilities, including behavior management techniques. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, students, and families. Demonstrated classroom management abilities to maintain a positive learning atmosphere. Relevant qualifications in special education, childcare, or early childhood education are highly desirable. Passion for supporting children’s growth through literacy education, math instruction, and inclusive teaching practices.
