The Tax Team plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance, efficiency, and scalability as the business grows internationally. The team constantly monitors changes in global tax legislation affecting marketplace models, digital services, and cross‑border payments. Team members have the opportunity to work on complex international tax topics, shape scalable systems, and directly influence how a global education platform operates financially across dozens of markets. We are looking to add a Senior Indirect Tax Manager to join our tax team and support our growing international presence during this phase of growth. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Preply's indirect tax framework from scratch in one of the fastest growing scale‑ups in the learning space At its core, your job is to work on strategic initiatives and projects, including analyzing and advising on the tax implications of our products globally. What you’ll be doing: Provide indirect tax advice and support to the tax team and other business stakeholders Liaise and manage external advisers to ensure Preply gets the best advice possible Work closely together with the Operations, Supply, Product, Payment, Finance and other stakeholders in ensuring Preply's products and features are tax compliant globally Drive fintech products that facilitate tax compliance for Preply and its users Challenge the status quo and identify opportunities for improvements in our existing products and transactions Design, test and implement scalable solutions to the issues you identifyPerform tax research (CJEU case law, country specific indirect tax legislation) with the aim of improving existing products, deploying new features and reducing risks Coordinate our global indirect tax compliance and filings. Manage, mentor and develop a Tax Accountant who is responsible for day‑to‑day tax compliance. Assist with indirect tax audits globally and liaise with external stakeholders (e.g. tax authorities) What you need to succeed: Able work from one of our hubs in London or Barcelona 8+ years of experience in a sophisticated international indirect tax environment (in‑house experience is an advantage) In‑depth knowledge of indirect taxes and a genuine passion for tax technical research Proactive and solution‑oriented, able to work independently and adapt in a fast‑paced environment. Great communication skills, making tax projects easy to understand and work with across teams.
