Overview Deputy Chief Engineer – Farnborough, UK (DV cleared). The role supports delivery programmes and bids in the National Security and Defence domain, primarily based in Farnborough with occasional travel to sites across the UK. Role Overview The Deputy Chief Engineer has overall responsibility for all engineering activities on the project and is part of the project leadership team. You will lead a team of highly skilled individuals delivering solutions across hardware, software, networks, cloud, IT services and cyber security. What Will You Be Doing? The Deputy Chief Engineer supports the Chief Engineer with responsibility for all engineering activities on the project and is part of the project technical leadership team. Their responsibility extends from project start up through operations and close-down and includes on-contract growth. Note: The National Security and Defence (NS&D) portfolio includes programmes and opportunities across UK MOD and UK Homeland security. Prior experience in these domains is beneficial. Required Skills Responsibilities include: Delivery and technical assurance across the solution within quality, cost and schedule constraints Achieving acceptance of the solution by the customer Providing technical leadership and mentorship across the project Ensuring engineering processes meet contracted standards and Leidos governance Identifying skills and staff required to deliver the engineering solution Defining engineering processes, practices and resources within company policies Managing the effectiveness of engineering activities across the project Mandatory Requirement British - Non-dual national – many projects have nationality restrictions Current DV clearance Essential Requirement Experience delivering solutions across hardware, software, networks, cloud, IT services and cyber security Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes (requirements management, configuration management) Understanding of different lifecycles/methodologies (incremental, SAFe agile, DevOps) Strong architecture, process and leadership skills Experience leading large multi-discipline technical teams (50+ people) on programmes over £50M Process Skills/Experience Experience with key engineering lifecycle reviews (SRR, CDR) Experience performing design trade-offs with other architects/engineers for integrated solutions Understanding of service operations and security operational management planning Experience in delivery and proposal environments and leading bid elements Ability to derive Basis of Estimates and schedules for security delivery Experience designing a secure SDLC for a customer transitioning to DevOps Communication and Soft Skills Excellent verbal and written communication; works well in a team Ability to develop and communicate a vision to meet requirements Ability to explain complex technical ideas to diverse audiences Good commercial awareness to support bid and delivery environments Capability to conduct complex discussions with customers and suppliers Clearance Requirements Clearance to Start DV Clearance for Role DV What We Do for You We are passionate about customer success, united as a team and inspired to make a difference.
