Chief EngineerLocation: FarnboroughLooking for an opportunity to make an impact..Role Overview:Leidos is expanding in the National Security and Defence domain and are looking for a DV cleared Chief Engineer to support delivery programmes and bids based in the UK working mainly in Farnborough but with occasional travel to sites across the UK.The Chief Engineer has overall responsibility for all engineering activities on the project and is part of the project leadership team. You will be leading a team of highly skilled and highly motivated individuals delivering solutions based on a large range of technical capabilities and technologies including hardware software networks cloud IT services and cyber security.Leidos is a global science and technology solutions leader working to solve the worlds toughest challenges in the defence intelligence homeland security civil and health markets.What Will you Be DoingThe Chief Engineer has responsibility for all engineering activities on the project and are part of the project technical leadership team. Their responsibility and accountability extends from project start up through to operations and closedown and includes on contract growthNote: The National Security and Defence (NS&D) portfolio includes programmes and opportunities that cover a range of customers focused on the operational and mission areas of UK MOD and UK Homeland security. It would be beneficial if you have prior experience in these domains.Required Skills:Responsibilities include:Delivery and technical assurance of the solution within the quality cost and schedule constraintsAchieving acceptance of the solution by the customerProviding technical leadership and mentorship across the projectEnsuring that the engineering processes within the project are commensurate with the requirements of the contracted standards and Leidos corporate governanceIdentifying the skills and staff required to deliver the engineering solutionDefining the engineering processes practices and resources required to deliver the project and services within the constraints of the company engineering policiesManaging the effectiveness of engineering activities across the projectMandatory Requirement:British - Non-dual national many of our projects have nationality restrictionsCurrent DV clearanceEssential Requirement:Experience in delivering solutions based on a large range of technical capabilities and technologies including hardware software networks cloud IT services and cyber security.Understanding of the controlling processes for and experience of a significant portion of the systems engineering lifecycle (e.g. requirements management configuration management)Understanding of different lifecycles/methodologies (incremental SAFe agile DevOps)Strong architecture skills alongside process and leadership skillsExperience in leading large multi-discipline technical teams 70 people on programmes above 100MExperience in Enterprise IT and Service Management programmesUnderstanding of Zero Trust Secure By Design Data Centricity AI and MLProcess Skills/Experience:Experience of the key engineering lifecycle reviews e.g. System Requirements Review (SRR) Critical Design Review (CDR)Experience in performing design trade off working with other architects and engineers to deliver an integrated and coherent solutionUnderstanding of service operations and security operational management planningExperience working in both delivery and proposal environments and leading key elements of a bid responseAbility to generate Basis of Estimates and schedules for security aspects of deliveryExperience of designing a secure software development lifecycle (SDLC) for a customer thats transitioning to a DevOps modelCommunication and Soft Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills and works well in a team environmentCapable of developing and communicating a vision to meet the System RequirementsAbility to communicate complex technical ideas across a wide range of different audiences in written and verbal forms;A good level of commercial awareness that will support the bid and delivery environmentsIntellectual calibre and confidence to conduct complex discussions with civilian and service customers and suppliersCommercial awareness sufficient to support discussions with customers and suppliersClearance Requirements: Clearance to Start DVClearance for RoleDVIntrigued Wed love to hear from you...What we do for you:At Leidos we are PASSIONATE about customer success UNITED as a team and INSPIRED to make a difference.
