Into University Community Liaison Officer

Job Purpose Act as the key point of contact between the University of Glasgow and the IntoUniversity (IU) centre team to support the delivery of IU's programme with children and young people in the Maryhill area. Provide administrative support to enable the partnership to function well. Liaise with internal and external partners and stakeholders to maximise the broader community impact of the programme. Main Duties and Responsibilities Provide administrative support to University WP team and IU Centre team, arranging facilities on the universitycampus for delivery of elements of the IU programme and ensuring the smooth delivery of these elements on campus. As appropriate, liaise with IU Centre, other WP, External Relations (ER) and wider University academic and support service staff to plan, implement and support the development of the programme in the IU centre and on the University of Glasgow (UofG) campus. Administer the running of activities on campus. Liaise with WP, academic and support staff across the University to form and engage with a network of university staff and students to support the IU Centre with the content of the IU programme, such as the delivery of subject specificsessions in the Centre and on-campus. Support the recruitment of university student mentors for attendees at the IU centre. Liaise with the University WP team and IU Centre team to ensure the IU programme links in with and complements the University's existing WP provision. To enable this, raise awareness, as required, within the WP team and IU Centre team of the work and programme content of both partners. Liaise with the IU and WP teams regarding the needs of individual young people and access to academic and support services within the university and/or other agencies, as appropriate. Enable opportunities for IU students to become involved in other UofG WP initiatives and vice versa, as required, and facilitate the processes to ensure this takes place. Utilise the expertise of colleagues within the WP Team to provide support for any IU students who are within a vulnerable group, such as care experienced students. Where appropriate, work with these students in their preparation for and transition to the University or elsewhere, for example, providing advice and guidance on HE and UCAS application procedures and processes, including interview and pre-entry test advice. As the IU centre becomes established, support the planned work of the centre and any additional staff in their engagement with colleges and specific community groups. Ensure this aligns and complements with broader existing WP provision in the community. Support donor stewardship through liaison with IntoUniversity and the University Development and Alumni team. Where appropriate, work across the IU centre network to support specific regional activity across Glasgow and Edinburgh and national activity throughout Scotland. As required, work with WP Research Associate and the WP and IU Centre teams to conduct and disseminate evaluation and research associated with the programme. Responsible for own complex and changing workload, with the ability to work under minimal supervision. Conduct other duties as required to support the Head of WP, IU Centre and WP teams. Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills and Experience Knowledge/Qualifications Essential: A1Either: Ability to demonstrate the competencies required to undertake the duties associatedwith this level of post having acquired the necessary knowledge and skills in a similar role. Or: Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 7 (Advanced Higher / ScottishVocational Qualification level 3, Higher National Certificate) or equivalent. A2 Sound understanding of the learning skills required for study in Higher Education (HE). A3 Knowledge of the Scottish secondary school system. A4 Knowledge of HE admissions procedures and the UCAS application process. Desirable: B1 Knowledge of the work of IntoUniversity and University of Glasgow WP provision. B2 Understanding of University policy and procedure relating to the recruitment and employment of staff. B3 Understanding of government regulations relating to working with young adults. B4 Understanding of University policy on Equality and Diversity procedures and policies. B5 Will have undergone an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland check. Skills Essential: C1 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. C2 Excellent team and independent working skills. C3 Excellent problem-solving skills. C4 Demonstrable ability to communicate with school level students. C5 Excellent written and verbal communication. C6 Excellent IT skills: Microsoft Office, including Access. C7 Demonstrable ability to work remotely. C8 An ability to work in a team as well as independently. C9 Comfortable with accepting changes. C10 An ability to keep accurate and up-to-date records. C11 Good timekeeping. C12 A willingness to be accessible to other team members. C13 Friendly and student-centred. C14 Enthusiasm for wider access and education. Desirable: D1 Full, clean driving licence. D2 Prepared to work flexible hours. D3 Knowledge of UofG electronic systems, e.g. MyCampus, BI-Query. Experience Essential: E1 Experience ofpersonal development in a similar role. E2 Experience of working in the HE and widening participation sectors. E3 Experience of working with learners in schools. E4 Experience of working within a multiple-partner organisation / programme. Desirable: F1 Project Administration. F2 Minimum of 2 years experience of administration in a related field. Terms and Conditions Salary will be Grade 5, £28,031 - £31,236 per annum pro rata. This post is part-time (24.5 hours per week), and open ended with funding available until 31 July 2026 in the first instance.
