OverviewWe are looking to appoint a post-CCT Fellow Knee Orthopaedic Surgery. Bart's Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the UK and offers comprehensive service covering the full range of Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery with a long history of innovation and training in orthopaedics and trauma.The post CCT arthroplasty fellowship position is for 8 months, working across our network of hospitals (The Royal London Hospital, Bart's Health Orthopaedic Centre and Whipps Cross Hospital). The team treats the full range of knee conditions, allowing us to customize the fellowship to suit the successful applicant’s needs. The fellowship provides a solid grounding in knee arthroplasty (total and partial), knee preservation (cartilage, meniscus, osteotomy and ligament) as well as exposure to complex revision surgery as the major revision knee centre, including peri-prosthetic fracture management, multi-stage revision and massive endo-prosthetic replacement.Job responsibilitiesMain duties of the jobThe position provides a mixture of supervised and independent practice to prepare the fellows for independent consultant practice with a specialist interest in knee surgery. Fellows are integral members of the team involved in day-to-day care of patients in clinics, theatres and on the wards. The successful applicant(s) will work closely with all the consultants in the department. Mr Jaison Patel and Mr Joshua Lee will act as the educational supervisors and the whole team will assist in mentoring. The Barts fellowships have an excellent record of helping applicants directly move on to substantive consultant posts.Our orthopaedic academic unit has a strong track record of involvement in clinical trials and research. Fellows are strongly encouraged to actively participate in research opportunities. In addition, the fellows are expected to complete an audit or quality improvement project during their time and publish a paper in a peer-reviewed journal.We are delighted to accept fellows from across the UK and internationally.
