We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Senior Clinical Fellow to join our Colorectal Surgery team at the Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. This 1-year post will be suitable for trainees at specialist registrar level, peri-CCT trainees or candidates aiming for post-CCT experience seeking broad Colorectal expertise in a busy tertiary centre. The unit offers Colorectal cancer care, HIPEC, pelvic floor disorders, complex benign conditions, an abdominal wall service and robotic surgery. Colorectal Surgery at the Royal London Hospital (RLH) is part of the department of general surgery, which also has specialist divisions of HPB surgery and upper GI surgery. At the Royal London Hospital there are 7 substantive full-and part-time consultant colorectal surgeons (1 Queen Mary University of London academic appointment). The post is based at the Royal London Hospital (Whitechapel) but may require work at other Trust sites in the City and East London. The post-holder will be clinically responsible for the smooth running of the department whose work spans the whole breadth of coloproctology. The placement will focus on the surgical management of Colorectal cancer, pelvic floor and functional colorectal disorders with key participation in MDT, our regional pelvic floor MDT, clinics, and theatres. The post-holder will gain subspecialist clinical training and operative experience in complex IBD and intestinal failure surgery, complex proctology and abdominal wall reconstruction. Academically he/she will be responsible for a defined research or educational project (with senior academic supervision) related to Colorectal Cancer, pelvic floor, IBD or another research in coloproctology. The post-holder will also have an important teaching role of undergraduate medical students.
