Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner (ARRS) Posted 01 December 2025 – Part‑time, Permanent, Band 6. Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 a year pro rata. Location: Carnforth and Milnthorpe PCN, Lancaster, LA5 9JU. Job Summary Carnforth and Milnthorpe Primary Care Network (PCN) invites applications for a Part‑Time Mental Health Practitioner. The role is part of the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS) and supports GPs with on‑day mental health assessment and support for patients, facilitating better joint working between primary and secondary mental health services. Key Responsibilities Deliver on‑day mental health assessment and support to patients within the primary care setting. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (paramedics, physiotherapists, social prescribers, health and wellbeing coaches, practice assistants, pharmacy staff and GPs). Provide evidence‑based mental health interventions and manage mental health caseloads. Engage in risk assessment and risk management practices. Maintain timely documentation and support service improvement initiatives. Person Specification Essential Registered mental health professional with current registration with the relevant body (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, etc.). Evidence of continuing personal learning and development. 1 year post‑registration community‑based experience, including completion of relevant preceptorship. Experience working in statutory primary care settings and managing complex clinical situations. Literate and good all‑round communicator. Strong time‑management and prioritisation skills. Resilience when working under pressure. Knowledge In‑depth understanding of risk assessment and risk management. Experience of delivering evidence‑based mental health interventions.
