Job Summary An opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join the HBPOS team on the Urgent Care pathway at The Orchard, Lancaster, as a Mental Health Practitioner – Section 136. This 12‑month fixed‑term role involves delivering timely assessment, care planning and support for individuals in crisis under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act. Responsibilities Accept and assess members of the public detained under Section 136. Coordinate and undertake comprehensive assessments within a 24‑hour period. Complete clinical paperwork and maintain accurate records. Collaborate with Home Treatment Team and Mental Health Liaison Team to provide a whole‑team approach. Support professional development of team members and demonstrate leadership in a nurse‑led service. Person Specification Essential Qualifications: Registered Nurse – Mental Health with experience since qualifying; ongoing registration with the appropriate Professional Body. Essential Knowledge: Evidence of continued professional development supporting clinical practice; knowledge of mental health conditions and treatments; understanding of physical health conditions and their complications in mental ill health. Essential Experience: Post‑graduate experience; experience working within a multi‑disciplinary team; experience in assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs. Strong interpersonal, leadership and staff development skills; commitment to ongoing professional education.
