OverviewGo back Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS TrustBand 7 Diabetes Specialist NurseThe closing date is 21 December 2025Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trust are seeking a band 7 Diabetes Specialist Nurse for a 12 month fixed term / secondment due to service expansion to work as part of the Diabetes Nursing team.We are looking for a self-motivated, team player to come and join the Diabetes Nursing team to help improve patient care and outcomes across Trust.You must have experience as a diabetes nurse with a detailed knowledge of diabetes treatment. Ideally you should have some experience in caring for patients on insulin pump, you should also be ready and willing to learn and develop this.You will be involved in supporting the diabetes insulin pump service being involved in nurse-led clinic as well as assessing in-patients with diabetes on pumps, helping to review and suggest treatment as well as giving advice and education to patients, relatives and ward staff.You will be involved in general diabetes out-patient clinics and expected to run phone clinics for recently discharged patients.Although this position is a 12 months fixed-term contract, the actual contract duration will be adjusted to account for the time taken to advertise the post, complete the hiring process, and finalise pre-employment checks. This means the contract will begin when the candidate starts the role and may be slightly shorter than 12 monthsMain duties of the jobYou will be involved in supporting and supervising junior diabetes nurses. You will need to be available to work across site and may be required to help cover a 7 day working week.
