We are seeking enthusiastic, hard‑working dental nurses to join the Community Dental Nursing Team. We currently have a vacancy for a Band 4 Dental Nurse: 22.5 hours / 0.6 WTE / Working days to be Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Based in the Birmingham locality at the Sparkbrook Health Centre. Working flexibly within the dental team to provide high‑quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the Dental Service, based at Community Dental Services (CDS) including Mobile Clinics and/or additional external sites as required, and at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH). Responsibilities Provide chair‑side assistance to clinicians within the dental service. Carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department. Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service. Prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre‑ and post‑operative instructions as required. Undertake the general care of the surgery including dental equipment/instruments and arrange any necessary repairs. Ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date. Provide chair‑side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required. Provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician. Assist the Senior Dental Nurse in the smooth running of the Dental Service. Support and assist clinicians including all student disciplines. Support and supervise all apprentice nurses and undergraduate groups.
