Are you looking for a new and exciting position to support patient pathways and clinical excellence? We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward‑thinking Specialist Dental Nurse to join the Birmingham Community Dental Nursing team. We are a multi‑disciplinary team that carries out a variety of different dental treatments under local anaesthetic, conscious sedation and general anaesthesia. Position Details Band 5 – Specialist Dental Nurse 37.5 hours / 1.0 WTE – for 12 months Working days: Monday to Friday (based at Sparkbrook and Attwood) Must hold a Dental Sedation Certificate (IHS) and be up to date with sedation training; provide CPD log. Flexible to travel to other sites/locations within the division. Responsibilities Support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure high standards of patient care and compliance with Trust policies and procedures. Delivery of high‑quality clinical nursing support across Dental Services Division clinical sites. Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality, managing patients with complex dental, social and medical needs. Stock control, rotation and ordering of dental consumables from appropriate suppliers. Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste including bodily fluids. Support recording of patient pre‑operative assessments (e.g., height, weight, blood pressure). Carry out any other duties relevant to this role as specified by the Dental Nurse Manager and/or Dental Nurse Tutor(s). Provide clinical nursing support for radiography within the department. Identify relevant staff and students who require additional training within the specialty and advise accordingly. Support the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham, School of Hygiene and Therapy and relevant Heads of Service to provide team training. Adhere to procedures to support and maintain national compliance targets. Implement agreed local Divisional and Trust policies. Implement outcomes in respect of Clinical Governance & Quality Improvement relating to the specialty.
