HI Trainee (CBT Trainee) Join to apply for the HI Trainee (CBT Trainee) role at NHS Posted 26 November 2025 Job Summary Candidates will have experience of working in mental health settings and will have either a registered graduate qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or psychological therapy or evidence using the career framework of training in mental health and experience of working in a stepped care service for anxiety and depression. The post-holder will work in the Haringey Talking Therapies service for 3 days of the week using newly developed skills while attending the training program for the other two days. The Royal Holloway, University of London is the training provider. The trainee will be employed by Whittington Health on a 12 month fixed-term contract. Responsibilities Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service. Assess clients for suitability for CBT; refer complex cases to manager/supervisor. Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to referral protocols. Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients. Educate and involve family members and others in treatment; convey CBT formulations with sensitivity. Adhere to activity contract relating to number of client contacts per week. Attend multidisciplinary meetings and complete data collection requirements. Keep coherent client records, maintain stepped care approach. Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into therapy process. Attend and fulfil training requirements; apply learning in practice. Receive supervision from educational providers. Maintain standards of practice, keep up to date with guidelines, client confidentiality, risk assessments. Develop professional objectives, attend supervision, participate in performance review. Contribute to development of best practice, keep legislation and policy knowledge up to date. Meet legal and confidentiality obligations, data protection, ethical conduct. Review and update job description with post-holder as needed. Person Specification Essential Registered graduate qualification in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or psychological therapy, or evidence of meeting the KSA requirements of BABCP. Demonstrable experience working in mental health services. Ability to meet service targets, manage own caseload, write clear reports. Excellent communication skills, risk assessment experience. Ability to build therapeutic relationships. Computer literate. Knowledge of anxiety and depression presentations, medication, evidence-based psychological therapies. High level of enthusiasm, motivation, advanced communication skills, teamwork, self-reflection. Desirable Experience working in a stepped care service for anxiety and depression. Experience in primary care services. Car driver and/or willingness to travel. Fluent in languages other than English. Experience with diverse communities. Training and Requirements Able to attend a two day per week course; complete academic components. Integrate training into practice.
