We are embarking on an ambitious strategy that will reshape how we deliver person‑centred care for disabled people across the UK.Who we areLeonard Cheshire has been at the forefront of disability rights and care for more than seven decades. Founded on the principle that disabled people have the right to independence, we support over 2,000 disabled people through our residential and supported living services. Our 4,000 dedicated staff work across England to deliver care rated among the highest in the sector.The future we’re buildingWe are modernising and innovating: developing high‑acuity care for complex needs, expanding supported living services, and embracing cutting‑edge assistive technology. This transformation requires personalised, community‑integrated approaches.About the roleWe seek a Trustee who combines clinical expertise, commercial acumen, and governance experience. The Trustee will sit on the Quality and Safety Committee, provide clinical insight to ensure the highest standards, and help maintain financial sustainability. They will work closely with the Chief Executive, Dr Ruth Owen OBE, and the Executive Director of Quality and Clinical Care.ResponsibilitiesShape policy and strategy for service design, quality frameworks, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships.Provide oversight of clinical standards and ensure governance reflects best practice across the healthcare and social care sectors.Guide Leonard Cheshire through its next phase, balancing quality, safety, and financial considerations.Qualifications and ExperienceSenior‑level clinical professional; background may span NHS trusts, private healthcare, or social care organisations.Experience with regulatory bodies such as the CQC and involvement in service transformation projects.Leadership experience where quality, safety, and financial considerations were balanced.Understanding of good governance, board‑level decision making, risk management, and strategic oversight.Experience with commissioning arrangements and local authority partnerships is helpful.Genuine passion for disability rights and person‑centred care, and commitment to the highest standards of care.Time CommitmentBoard meetings: four per year, up to six hours each, plus two strategy away days.Quality and Safety Committee meetings: four annually.Additional preparation, strategic discussions, and occasional service visits – approximately one day per month, with extra time during key decision periods.ApplySend your CV and supporting statement (maximum two A4 pages) to response@peridotpartners.co.uk with the subject “Application: Leonard Cheshire – Clinical Trustee”.
