Rotational Specialist Clinical Pharmacist B7The Pharmacy Department at The Royal Surrey County Hospital is looking for a self-motivated, talented band 7 pharmacist to join our rotational programme.This rotational programme includes a variety of clinical experience and training within the various specialties, including medicine, surgery, intensive care, AMU, medication risk, frailty, oncology, antibiotics, maternity and paediatrics.Successful applicants will have recent hospital experience and be able to demonstrate consistent achievement in the areas outlined in the General Level Competency Framework.Candidates should hold a Certificate in Pharmacy Practice (or equivalent) and would be keen to pursue further postgraduate education, including working towards completion of an independent prescribing qualification. You should be a team player with the ability to introduce change and have a keen interest to actively participate in the training and development of others.Training and experience in line management and supervision of pre-registration and diploma students will be provided.This is a full-time post of 37.5 hours per week, however flexible working and job-share will be considered.Interviews will be face to face and a remote interview would only be considered for extenuating circumstances, and cannot be guaranteed as an option.Main duties of the jobYou will be primarily ward based for most of the rotations, optimising all aspects of pharmaceutical care to individual patients and developing and promoting medicines management services. You will work as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary clinical team and a variety of Specialty Business Units (SBUs) across the hospital.The successful applicant will be required to participate in late night, weekend working and public holiday work. To support the Lead Pharmacist for the area in the provision of a specialist pharmacy service, including service development projects To work as a member of the Pharmacy Department to ensure safe, effective, economical and timely pharmaceutical care for all patients receiving a pharmaceutical service from the department. To provide expert advice and specialised medicines information to patients, clinicians and other staff ensuring compliance with medicines legislation and local policies. Line manage an allocated pharmacist (band 6) and provide support and supervision to less experienced pharmacists on rotation Undertake six month rotations through a variety of clinical specialties, to develop a rounded experience of hospital pharmacy. Work closely with the relevant SBU under the direction of the relevant Lead Pharmacist. Provide professional and clinical supervision for the work of rotational band 6 pharmacists, pre-registration pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pre-registration pharmacy technicians, and pharmacy assistants. Propose changes to pharmacy departmental policies, procedures and clinical guidelines and assist in the implementation of these.Person SpecificationQualificationsMasters degree in pharmacy or equivalent and 1 year pre‑registration trainingPost‑graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent training/experienceHigher degree/ Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experienceRegistered supplementary/ independent non‑medical prescriberKnowledgePost‑Registration experience as a clinical pharmacy practitioner in the hospital setting covering a broad range of clinical specialities.Post registration experience of sufficient quality and quantity to enable demonstration of achievement in all aspects of the General Level FrameworkExperience of working effectively within multidisciplinary groupsImplementing research into practiceSupervision of staffProfessional knowledge acquired through vocational Masters degree in pharmacy (4 years) or equivalentGood core therapeutic knowledge and clinical skills as assessed through competency framework.
