SENCO for Alternative Provision - London East AP (LEAP) Inner London Main Scale + 2a (£3,391), plus SEN allowance of £2,679 Start: January 2026 London East Alternative Provision (LEAP) is a highly successful, high-achieving, inner-city school, delivering transformative education to 265 young people of all ages from Primary through KS3, KS4 and to Post-16. Applications are invited from experienced, talented, hard-working and motivated individuals for the post of SENCO for our main provision in Stepney Green in Tower Hamlets. As the SENCO you will work closely with our leadership team in managing the school's systems for Special Educational and Additional Learning Needs. You will collaborate with our Inclusion Lead and oversee the day-to-day support of some of our most vulnerable and challenging young people at LEAP. You will support our staff in their awareness and understanding of our students' needs and inclusive approaches and strategies in teaching and learning, as well as oversee screening processes and manage the school's SEN cohort along with our existing SENCOs, all of whom are experienced, dedicated and hard-working practitioners at LEAP. You will also play an important role liaising with families and external agencies, share and support their understanding of a child's needs, set meaningful targets for joint working and review plans and provisions for our students' support. Our students need much more than excellent classroom practitioners with good subject knowledge: they need someone with experience of and a preference for working with hard to reach, often vulnerable children. They need teachers who will care about their progress, practitioners who are able to support them with their personal development and wellbeing through education. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to the LEAP aims, values and ethos and a proven track record of delivering excellent outcomes for students, including those with complex behavioural and SEND needs. If supporting struggling young people, with plenty of scope for getting to know all your students really well and having productive and positive relationships with them sounds like you, then we would very much welcome your application. Closing date for applications: Monday, 1st December 2025 Interviews: Week commencing 8th December 2025 Please return your application form by no later than 9am on Monday 1st December 2025 to our recruitment email address: recruitment@londoneastap.org.uk. Should you wish to visit our school before deciding whether or not to apply, you will be most welcome. Visits also can be arranged by emailing Kathryn Ryan at the recruitment email address above. London East Alternative Provision is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All successful candidates will be required to undergo safer recruitment checks, including an enhanced DBS disclosure and Barred List Checks. #J-18808-Ljbffr
