Position: Desktop Support Engineer (Contract) Location Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, United Kingdom Salary £45,000 – £65,000 per annum Responsibilities Provide first/second level desktop support for local and remote endpoints. Troubleshoot hardware, software, network and application issues; document steps in ticketing system. Install, upgrade and support Windows 7‑10, Microsoft Office 365 and approved desktop applications. Support macOS environments and Apple PC users. Perform preventive maintenance on PCs, laptops and printers. Use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot network connectivity and workstation problems. Collaborate with vendors to remediate complex AV issues. Maintain ticket updates for all reported incidents and communicate status to customers. Work flexible hours, off‑hours, weekends as required for projects or emergency support. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related field. CompTIA A+ or equivalent Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). Minimum 18 months of IT support experience. Strong knowledge of Windows 7‑10, Microsoft Active Directory, GPOs, Office 365, PC hardware and anti‑virus solutions. Experience with mobile device management (iOS, Android) and enterprise encryption. Proven analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Adaptable, flexible and able to multi‑task in a fast‑changing environment. Willing to work off‑hours and weekends for projects or emergency support. Benefits Competitive salary and benefits package.
