Electrical Project Engineer

Octavius Infrastructure is part of the Southern Renewals Enterprise, helping deliver Electrification and Plant (E&P) renewals across the Southern region for the next 10 years. We are recruiting for an Electrical Project Engineer to join the team. We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK. Responsibilities Implement Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality controls. Manage day‑to‑day construction engineering activities. Collaborate with the CEM, Project Manager, Design Manager and CREs for alignment. Provide construction technical support to the CEM, Project Manager and site teams. Review and respond to Technical Queries and participate in reviews. Work closely with the Project Commercial team for accurate cost estimates. Liaise with the Project Planner and construction affiliates for project plans. Review designs. Control work packages and ensure cost and milestone adherence. Provide progress updates and reports to the Planning Engineer. Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance. Report safety, environmental and compliance incidents. Qualifications Design and installation experience. Ability to manage and direct site staff. Knowledge of railway infrastructure work. Familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations. Strong communication and documentation skills. Background in rail contracting, construction or electrical engineering. Proficiency in MS Office applications. Problem‑solving, attention to detail and communication skills. IEng / CEng or working towards professional registration with the IEE or other relevant engineering body. Time management, adaptability and resilience under pressure. Ethical conduct and continuous learning mindset. Experience & Skills Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant work experience in the rail sector—including feeder routes, substations or high‑voltage and low‑voltage systems. Track competence.
