An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic andmotivated individual to join our reception team. We are a small, friendly and caringpractice offering a full range of services to our patients.Our team consists of 2 GP Partners, a Salaried GP,and practice nurses. They are supported by an experienced and dedicated team ofmanagerial, administration, reception and dispensary staff. We are furthersupported by our PCN Staff which includes care co-ordinators, pharmacists andpharmacy technicians, social prescribers, mental health practitioners andhealth and wellbeing coachesMain duties of the jobOur Receptionist will receive,direct and assist our patients in accessing the appropriate service orhealthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way. They will also provide general administrativeassistance to the practice team and act as a focal point of communicationbetween patients, doctors and other medical and clerical staff.About usWe are a semi-rural Dispensing GP Practice who hasbeen providing General Medical Services since the late 1960's to residentswithin the town of Cheadle, Stoke on Trent and its surrounding areas. Thebuilding is single storey and we are fortunate to have a large car park. Ourpatient list size currently stands at just over 4,800.We are a high achiever of QOF and endeavour todeliver high quality of care to all our patients within a safe environmentacknowledging the need to retain dignity, respect and confidentiality at alltimes.We are also a GP Training Practice working incollaboration with Keele Medical School and have Registrars and MedicalStudents on placement with us throughout the year.Job responsibilitiesThe duties and responsibilities to be undertaken may includeany or all the items in the following list.Effectivelygreet patients and visitors to the surgery in an appropriate and professionalmanner at all timesBook,cancel and rearrange appointments as requested by telephone, face-to-face oronline using the electronic appointment book, ensuring patients are directed tothe most appropriate healthcare professionalCommunicateeffectively with patients, relatives and carersProcessin person, by telephone and e-mail general enquiries ensuring accuracy ofdetail in all messages and ensuring these are actioned as necessaryActionGP referrals ensuring correct processes are followed to avoid unnecessarydelays for patientsActionall practice tasks and workflow comments daily in accordance with thepractice policyProvide assistance and chaperoning to GPswhen requiredExplainpractice procedures and arrangements for new patientsRegistrationof patients residing within the practice boundary, ensuring appropriatedocuments are completed and information entered onto system is correctProvideresults of tests and investigations as requested and advised by the GPUpdatepatient details to ensure correct and accurate details are held, i.e. correctaddress and telephone number, and monitor any PDS differencesHandleand redirect internal and external mail appropriately and accurately scan andattach clinical and administrative information/correspondence onto patientsrecords as necessaryIssuecorrect and appropriate specimen containers and forms and ensure the correctinformation is obtained and completed on return of the specimenExpected Hours - 23.5/wk - Wednesday 08:00-18:30 / Thursday 08:00-13:30 and 13:00-18:30 (alternate weeks) / Friday 08:00-18:00You will be required to work as per the specified rota and flexible working is essential to cover additional hours during annual leave and sicknessPerson SpecificationKnowledge & SkillsExcellent communication skills (written and oral)Ability to work as a team member and autonomouslyQualificationsGCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C (4) or aboveExperienceExperience working with the general public/patientsExperience of working in primary careBroad knowledge of general practiceDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
