The Pathology IT Systems Support Officer provides essential technical and desktop support for the pathology IT systems across Black Country Pathology Services (BCPS). Reporting to the Pathology IT Service Lead, the post holder supports the day‑to‑day operation, maintenance, and development of key systems such as Clinisys WinPath Enterprise, SampleNet, Path Manager, and ICE Order Comms. This role involves first‑line helpdesk support, system monitoring, user account management, and troubleshooting of complex IT issues. The officer will also assist with system upgrades, data integrity checks, and reporting, while liaising with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure seamless service delivery. Strong communication, analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem‑solving are essential for success in this dynamic and evolving environment. The post holder will be a lead desktop and technical support within Pathology IT, providing systems support for the Pathology laboratory system, investigating IT system malfunctions, integration support, small system advice and policies, and general housekeeping. The officer manages system user accounts and passwords and maintains the operation of the Pathology laboratory system and day‑to‑day running of the Pathology IT systems within the Trust and associated external organisations. The post holder will act as a point of contact for matters relating to Pathology IT, including fault finding, system configuration, activity and information reporting, and first‑line helpdesk support to the users of the Pathology systems.
