Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist Closing date: 25 December 2025 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and highly motivated nurse to become part of our Paediatric Epilepsy Team, on a one-year fixed term contract. We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic nurse to join our team providing care for children and young people with epilepsy, and support the lead Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist with their management, treatment and care. This role will utilise specialist clinical skills and encompass an education and support role for children and families with a diagnosis of epilepsy. The post holder will also liaise with and provide information, training and education to professionals in a range of hospital and community settings. If you are keen to deliver holistic care to children and young people with epilepsy, we would love to hear from you Main duties of the job The post holder will work alongside and support the Lead Paediatric Epilepsy Nurse Specialist as part of the wider multi-disciplinary team to provide an effective and supportive service to children and young people with epilepsy, their families and carers, in both hospital and community settings. They will provide clinical guidance and expert knowledge in assessing, implementing and evaluating the needs of this patient group. They will provide specialist clinical skills, teaching, education and support to enable families, carers and other professionals, to engage in managing the needs of children and young people to achieve the best quality life, health and wellbeing while living with a diagnosis of epilepsy. Qualifications Degree supplemented by training and/or combination of additional post registration/postgraduate specialist training, experience and/or short course, CPD or equivalent Experience of working for minimum of 2 years within a service providing care for children and young people with epilepsy Specialist epilepsy qualification (or working towards) British Paediatric Neurological Association (BPNA) PET training or equivalent Non‑Medical Prescriber Experience Significant level of specialist knowledge and experience with children's epilepsy in an acute or community setting Teaching and mentoring staff Experience working in the community Caseload management Attendance at case conferences, Child in Need meetings or Core Groups Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
