The successful post-holder will work autonomously and will offer specialist advice, acting as a source of expertise and knowledge for families and other health care professionals. They will provide nurse led clinics, support consultant clinics, facilitate hospital discharge and respond to, assess and prescribe in relation to ongoing issues in relation to epilepsy. Main duties of the job The post-holder will require excellent interpersonal, communication and IT skills and the ability to organise, manage, and plan workload effectively, as well as being enthusiastic and dedicated to working as an advocate in support of our children, young people and their families. Be responsible for good liaison between hospital and community services, forming the basis of a shared care approach to paediatric epilepsy management. Provide expert information and advice to children, young people and their carers, extending this expertise into their places of learning, work and leisure. Provide expert advice and leadership on paediatric epilepsy across Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the community, voluntary bodies and other agencies. Influence the strategic development of the Paediatric epilepsy service within the Trust and locally. Person Specification Essential RN (Child) with significant post registration experience Master's qualification or equivalent study Teaching/assessment qualification British Paediatric Neurological Association (BPNA) PET training or equivalent, and experience in Paediatric Epilepsy Non‑medical prescribing registration Desirable British Paediatric Neurological Association (BPNA) PET 1, 2 and 3 training Communication training Essential Experience Significant experience in developing nurse led elements within a paediatric epilepsy service Experience delivering education programs to families and professional groups Experience working within multidisciplinary and multiagency teams Desirable Experience Evidence of networking/presenting at local, regional, national level Experience in leading on research/clinical audit Experience running nurse led clinics Experience working in the community Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
