We are seeking a Technical Manager to lead our technical function, ensuring the design, specification, compliance, and delivery of smoke control and natural ventilation systems meet regulatory standards, client expectations, and internal quality benchmarks. Key Responsibilities Lead the technical design and compliance of smoke control and natural ventilation systems. Act as the subject matter expert on BS EN 12101 series, UK Building Regulations, and harmonised standards. Resolve complex design, integration, and installation challenges across multiple projects. Liaise with onsite engineers to ensure ‘as built’ information is gathered and matches the installation onsite. Provide technical input during tendering, pre‑sales, and project delivery stages. Review, approve, and sign off technical documentation, schematics, and system drawings. Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure equipment compatibility and successful project delivery. Maintain awareness of regulatory changes and update internal technical processes accordingly. Mentor, coach, and support Project Managers and technical staff to build expertise and confidence. Lead technical training initiatives and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for staff. Drive continuous improvement in system design, engineering processes, and adoption of new technologies. Required Skills & Experience Extensive experience in smoke control, fire safety, HVAC, or building services engineering. Strong knowledge of BS EN 12101 series and UK Building Regulations. Proficiency in control panel design, electrical schematics, and system integration. Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design software. Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills. Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects while maintaining high technical standards. Degree or HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field. Membership of IET, CIBSE, or a similar professional body preferred. CPD in smoke control, fire safety, or building services engineering advantageous.
