RTL Group are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor who are looking to bring in an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a multi-year tunnelling scheme. The role can be based from either their Kent or Essex office, with ongoing long-term workload and strong project visibility.

The Role

You’ll be taking ownership of the commercial function on a major tunnelling project, working closely with the site and project management teams. The position will suit someone who is confident working under NEC contracts and comfortable handling the day-to-day commercial duties on complex civil engineering works.

Key Responsibilities

Overseeing the commercial management of a multi-year tunnelling project

*

Full NEC contract administration, including early warnings, compensation events and issuing notices

*

Measuring and quantifying tunnelling works, shafts and associated civils packages

*

Preparing take-offs, BoQs, cost plans and monthly cost/value reports

*

Managing subcontract procurement, valuations, variations and final accounts

*

Monitoring budgets, forecasts and cost control throughout the project lifecycle

*

Supporting regular commercial reviews and reporting to senior management

*

Building strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors and delivery teams

About You

*

Background in civil engineering with experience on tunnelling, underground or heavy civils projects

*

Previous experience working for a contractor in a QS/Senior QS role

*

Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts

*

Confident in measurement, quantification and general commercial controls

*

Good communication skills and a practical, proactive approach
