Job Summary We are recruiting for a Nurse Team Leader who share our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients. We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to work on our ENT, Plastics and female surgical ward – a 30 bedded unit. As a Nurse Team Leader you will be required to deliver safe, effective care for patients, manage your team and deputise for the ward manager in their absence. Main Duties Deliver safe, effective, evidence based patient care. Manage your team and deputise for the ward manager in their absence. Support and develop junior staff members. Serve as a role model and undertake management responsibilities to ensure optimal service operation. Ensure the safe and effective care of patients, including complex and co‑morbid cases. Support and develop junior and other clinical staff. Meet all NHS quality, safety and audit standards. Act as the ward manager’s deputy, overseeing staffing, rota, competencies, resources and policy implementation. Qualifications / Training Essential Registered nurse on part 1 of the NMC register. Mentorship and preceptorship qualification or equivalent, or evidence of working towards it. Evidence of continued professional development in relevant areas of specialty. Desirable Clinical and managerial experience at senior staff nurse level in a surgical ward. Current working knowledge and skills in the management of ENT, Plastics and gynecological surgical patients. Experience caring for patients with multiple co‑morbidities, complex drug regimes and complex discharge requirements. Experience managing a ward/department, including staff, rota, competencies and resources. Previous Experience Essential Experience of nursing within an acute clinical setting. Skills Essential Effective shift leadership ability. Strong communication skills. Leadership to drive quality of care within the multidisciplinary team. Ability to prioritise own workload and that of others. Understanding of research and audit, and willingness to participate. Ability to develop and coordinate departmental training programmes. Desirable Organisational skills. Knowledge Essential Good understanding of high‑quality patient care and patient safety. Ability to work with all staff on a multiprofessional level, demonstrating up‑to‑date knowledge of practice development within surgical nursing. Broad knowledge of post‑operative care and surgical patient management. Desirable Knowledge of computing skills. Evidence of professional development and a proven commitment to the management of postoperative surgical patients.
