Patient Services Assistant – Practice Plus Group Overview We are currently looking for a Patient Services Assistant to be part of the Ophthalmology Patient Services Team based in Rochdale. The successful candidate will provide high‑quality administrative support across the patient pathway, from receiving referrals to booking appointments and handling patient queries. They will also manage electronic records, contribute to team meetings, and work closely with clinical staff to ensure excellent patient experience. Key Responsibilities On receipt of patient calls, search computerised patient records, checking patient details and confidentiality. Ensure accurate electronic record keeping. Adhere to all relevant policies and procedures. Actively participate in regular meetings. Assist with resolving complaints at service level. Collaborate with clinical and patient services staff to deliver high‑standard service. Book face‑to‑face and telephone appointments, including first appointments and follow‑ups. Liaise with NHS providers regarding onward patient referrals. Receive and promptly act on referrals for all areas of ophthalmology. Communicate with the Patient Services Coordinator to schedule clinics efficiently and optimise theatre capacity. Build, extend and maintain clinics while managing allocations to ensure capacity is optimised. What We’re Looking For Previous administration experience in a similar setting. A sincere desire to be part of a team that takes pride in helping patients. Sound knowledge of IT and software packages (Word, Excel). Excellent communication skills (written and phone).
