There is an opportunity to join the Wintle ward team in Oxford as a full time Occupational Therapist working with adults who are experiencing mental health challenges. In this role you will gain clinical experience as well as inpatient and community settings as well as be supported to develop your leadership and managerial skills to help with future career progression. As an OT, you will play a vital role in delivering high‑quality, client‑centred care. You’ll carry out initial assessments and provide short‑term interventions, manage a complex caseload and develop evidence‑based treatment plans. Working collaboratively with service users and their families, you’ll set recovery‑focused OT goals and ensure smooth transitions to other teams or services. You’ll also provide leadership and supervision to junior staff and students, contribute to service development projects, and apply recognized models such as MOHO to guide assessments and interventions. Alongside clinical duties you will be supported to gain experience and skills in leadership, research and quality improvement as well as other training relevant to your post. Main duties of the job To carry out the initial screening and assessment of all service users admitted to the ward and to undertake intensive short‑term treatment where appropriate. To manage a caseload of clients with complex OT needs, using evidence based/client‑centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in the ward and community settings and on home visits. To be responsible for monitoring and evaluating treatment plans, transferring service users to the AMHT / CMHT, other teams within the Trust, or third sector organisations when appropriate. To provide leadership for junior/non‑registered staff through supervision and appraisal, identifying appropriate caseloads, reviewing interventions and delegating responsibilities as appropriate. To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of OT services, holding responsibility for defined projects where appropriate. To regularly supervise OT students on practice placement, following attendance at an approved Fieldwork Educator’s course. HCPC registration required.
