Senior Civil Engineer (Roads) - Edinburgh Location: Edinburgh Type: Full-time, Permanent I'm working with a leading, privately owned UK consultancy that's looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer (Roads) to join their growing team in Edinburgh. This is an excellent opportunity to be involved in major infrastructure, highway, and energy schemes across the UK - working within a multidisciplinary team that delivers innovative and sustainable engineering solutions. The Role As a Senior Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in the design and delivery of complex road and infrastructure projects. You'll also mentor junior team members and contribute to the ongoing development of the business. Key Responsibilities Prepare and develop conceptual and detailed designs for highways, infrastructure, and energy projectsManage small project teams, ensuring deliverables meet quality, programme, and budget expectationsProvide technical input and governance across design stagesLiaise with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholders (e.g. Transport Scotland, SEPA, NatureScot)Attend design and site meetings to support project progress About You Degree in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineWorking towards Chartered status (ICE, CIHT, or equivalent)Strong understanding of DMRB standards and specificationsExperience with Civils 3D, InfoDrain, or PDS (signs/lines)Background delivering highways or infrastructure projects for public or private sector clientsExcellent communication and report‑writing skillsCollaborative, proactive, and confident taking ownership of design delivery What’s on Offer Competitive salary and flexible benefits packageICE‑approved training and structured chartership support33 days' annual leave (including public holidays)Pension, private healthcare, and life insuranceInterest‑free travel loanBonus schemes including loyalty and qualification awardsHybrid/flexible working optionsSupportive, inclusive environment with clear progression opportunities Interested?
