Job Overview The post holder will jointly oversee the day‑to‑day running of the Antenatal Clinic and the Maternity Day Assessment Unit, acting as a proactive member of the Senior Team in Maternity. Main Duties & Responsibilities Joint managerial and operational leadership of the DAU, MAU and ANC. Maintain standards of cleanliness and a well‑maintained ward/department environment. Budget holder and authorised signatory for financial and physical resources; work with the Band 8a manager to control budgets and drive service improvement. Managerial responsibility for Band 6 Midwives, Band 5/6 Rotation Midwives, MSW, nurses and ward clerks employed in the antenatal services area. Set and audit standards of midwifery care, ensuring holistic, evidence‑based, woman‑centred care and involvement of women in decisions. Ensure practice complies with NMC codes, Trust protocols and guidelines. Prioritise workload to meet targets and alert leadership of quality issues. Apply Data Protection, Confidentiality and Caldicott principles within the clinical area. Promote diversity and inclusion, addressing discrimination and oppression, and support recruitment, management and development of staff. Promote interdisciplinary working with outcomes aimed at the best interest of women. Person Specification Essential criteria Significant recent experience in midwifery. Mentorship qualification/ENB997 or equivalent. Registered midwife. UK professional registration (must have appropriate UK professional registration). Desirable criteria Leadership/management qualification. Rostering experience. Experience of audit and presentation. Experience of successful change management.
