Mechanical Technician (Runcorn)

Salary: £47,239 per annum

Bonus: Annual bonus scheme

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday

H9 Talent Solutions are proud to be working with a major industrial operator in Runcorn to recruit a Mechanical Technician to join their expanding maintenance team.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a modern, high-performance facility where reliability, safety, and engineering excellence are at the core of operations.

The Role

As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a key part in maintaining the mechanical integrity and performance of a large-scale industrial plant. You will be responsible for delivering both planned and unplanned maintenance activities, supporting long-term asset reliability, and ensuring high operational standards.

You will join a skilled engineering team committed to continuous improvement and a zero-compromise approach to health, safety, and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct planned preventative and corrective mechanical maintenance across a range of plant equipment.

Diagnose mechanical faults, carry out repairs, and support root-cause analysis.

Execute maintenance tasks safely within robust Permit to Work and Safe System of Work procedures.

Work proactively with CMMS systems to log activity, track performance, and optimise maintenance schedules.

Develop or contribute to detailed scopes of work and engineering specifications for external contractors.

Support the delivery of plant reliability, availability, and asset care objectives.

Collaborate effectively with wider operational and engineering teams to drive performance improvements.

Champion a culture of safety compliance and continuous improvement.

What We’re Looking For

Experience undertaking mechanical maintenance in a heavy industrial, process plant, manufacturing, or similar environment.

Understanding of repair methods, mechanical machinery, and plant equipment.

Experience working with Safe Systems of Work and plant isolations.

Familiarity with Preventative Maintenance processes and CMMS platforms.

Strong communication and report-writing skills.

Ability to problem-solve methodically and work well both independently and within a team.

Relevant Engineering qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent) and preferably a recognised apprenticeship.

Experience in energy-from-waste, power generation, or similar sectors is beneficial but not essential
