Breast Consultant Radiographer - Director of Breast Screening Applications are invited for an exciting opportunity to join our established Breast Imaging team as a consultant radiographer in breast, with the additional responsibility of Director of Breast Screening for the North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service. The North Lancashire and South Cumbria Breast Screening Service, part of the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust, operates Breast Screening and Symptomatic services from dedicated imaging units at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Furness General Hospital and Westmorland General Hospital. We also operate two mobile units in the community. The service is highly performing with a dedicated, caring and professional team of consultant radiologists, consultant radiographers, advanced practitioners, mammographers, assistant practitioners, clinical support workers, programme management and administrators. The unit is fully digital with a robust PACS system. Our radiology team is also part of the strong and effective UHMB Breast Multidisciplinary Team alongside members of the surgical, histopathology, breast care nursing and oncology services. Main duties of the job The delivery of an integrated, responsive and effective Breast Imaging diagnostic service; provide a consultant service and carry out an expert practitioner role, which will involve invasive procedures, interpreting and reporting images, making a diagnosis and recommending further action; provide clinical leadership of the team and ensure compliance with national standards; provide a person‑centred approach to care and seek to incorporate the user perspective in future developments; bring innovation and influence to enhance the service and improve outcomes for patients; be responsible for the progression of the department to meet increasing demands on service provision and new imaging techniques; collaborate with other professional groups across boundaries to provide consultant‑level clinical leadership.
